Child Development I

In Child Development I, you will explore the growth and development of children from birth to age five by engaging in observations, activities, and real-world scenarios that highlight physical, intellectual, emotional, and social milestones, while also examining the vital role of parenting in supporting each stage of development.
Child Development II

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Child Development I.
In Child Development II, you will learn how young children grow and learn in an early childhood education classroom by working in the Wildcat Preschool Lab. In this hands-on setting, you will explore effective teaching techniques, develop skills to write, plan, and implement lessons, and practice strategies for guiding and managing behavior. The lab provides real-world experience in observing, supporting, and interacting with young children, helping you connect classroom learning to practical teaching practice.
Child Development III
7240 Grades 11-12 1 Credit 1 Semester Weight of 1.2
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Child Development II.
In Child Development III, you will step into the role of lead teacher by working in the Wildcat Preschool Lab. You’ll learn to follow state standards, plan and implement thematic lessons, and build effective communication skills with parents to support children’s learning and development. Through hands-on teaching experiences in the lab, you will gain confidence and competence in managing the classroom, guiding behavior, and creating a positive learning environment while applying real-world early childhood education practices.
Food Foundations

Food Foundations is an elective focused on building the essential skills needed to navigate a kitchen safely and confidently. You will learn how to prepare basic recipes, make informed nutritional choices, budget for meal plans, and develop healthy, sustainable habits related to food for yourself and your family.
Advanced Foods
7270 Grades 10-12 1 Credit 1 Semester Weight of 1.1
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Food Foundations.
Advanced Foods builds on the foundational skills you learned in Food Foundations and introduces you to the professional side of culinary arts and hospitality. Along with learning more advanced food preparation and presentation techniques, you will have the opportunity to earn your ServSafe Food Handler Certification: a valuable credential for those interested in or working in the food service industry.
Fashion Design
7290 Grades 9-12 1 Credit 1 Semester Weight of 1.1
For students who are interested in every aspect of the clothing industry, check this out! Students taking this course will become familiar with the fashion cycle, basic fashion terms and the evolution of the fashion industry. The students will explore design principles, color schemes and elements of design. They will become familiar with many famous fashion designers from both the past and present.
Each student will learn to operate a sewing machine and serger. They will also complete a small sewing project as well as constructing a garment utilizing a commercial pattern that reflects his/her personal style and the elements and principles of design.
Interior Design
7295 Grades 9-12 1 Credit 1 Semester Weight of 1.1
This course will introduce students to the fundamental principles of interior design. Students will learn to create an impact on an environment using color, fabrics and textures. Instruction includes using color effectively, using the elements and principles of design, textiles, arranging furniture, floor planning, and finishing details. Hands-on projects will allow students to build and implement their design skills.
Advanced Textiles And Design
7305 Grades 10-12 1 Credit 1 Semester Weight of 1.2
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Fashion Design &/or Interior Design
This course builds on skills learned in Fashion Design and Interior Design and enables students to further explore their creativity in these fields. Students will become experienced with color concepts, design elements and principles, textile uses, and the design process. Projects are integrated throughout the course to provide students with hands on application as they explore: careers, apply the elements and principles of design, fiber characteristics, basic sewing construction, design development, design technology, universal design, visual merchandizing, sustainability, and professional communication and presentation. Students will have the opportunity to choose projects geared more to the fashion or interior design industry.
The Global Kitchen
7310 Grades 9-12 .25 Credit 1 Semester
Students will explore a variety of culinary techniques and ingredients use to prepare authentic cuisines from other cultures, while continuing to develop knife skills and food preparation methods.
Adulting 101
