These courses are for students meeting the Pennsylvania Department of Education criteria for "gifted." In these courses students interact with other students on issues that are not covered in the typical school curriculum. Such thought- provoking issues as the First Amendment and ethics have been discussed. In addition, students are required to read a "book of lasting value" each semester and take an active part in a literary seminar on that book.
Independent Projects

7640/7650 Grades 9-12 .5 Credit 1 Semester Individually Scheduled
This course is for students meeting the PA Department of Education criteria for "gifted." This course meets informally whenever students have a study hall period or can otherwise fit it into their schedules. Students are able to work on projects approved by the multi-discipline team and under the direction of a project coordinator. Students agree to work three hours/cycle independently and meet with the project coordinator once per cycle for a formal evaluation. Work completed may not be submitted to another class for a grade.
Gifted Major

7670 Grades 11-12 1 Credit 1 Semester Weight 1.3
If both Enrichment A or B and Independent Projects are elected in the same year, they may be considered a major and ranked for grades 9-12. This course will be graded for students who elect it as a major.
